Criticism continues
AC Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic has doubled down on his criticism of athletes who mix politics and sports.
Following singling out the NBA’s Los Angeles Laker’s Lebron James last week for bringing politics into the sporting arena, the Swedish superstar spoke again on the subject at a press conference for the San Remo music festival, which he is co-hosting.

He said, “Athletes unite the world, politics divide it. Our role is to unite the world by doing what we do best. Athletes should be athletes and politicians should do politics.”
Last week former Manchester United striker Ibrahimovic told UEFA and Discovery+in Sweden.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic uppskattar basketspelaren Lebron James men tycker inte att han ska lägga sig i politiken: “Lebron är fenomenal på det han gör, men jag gillar inte när folk med status lägger sig i politik”

“I like James a lot. He’s phenomenal, what he’s doing, but I don’t like when people with a status speak about politics. Do what you’re good at doing. “
“I play football because I’m the best playing football, I don’t do politics. If I’d been a politician, I would be doing politics. This is the first mistake famous people do when they become famous: for me, it is better to avoid certain topics and do what you’re good doing, otherwise you rise doing something wrongly.”
Lebron Response

His comments didn’t fall on deaf ears and James responded to his comments.

It remains to be seen if Lebron James will respond again, but as he is one of the NBA’s most outspoken stars on racial injustice and police brutality, he may feel the need to do so again.
