What Bruno Fernandes wants before signing new Manchester United deal

Fernandes’ Manchester United stint

The signing of Bruno Fernandes has proven to be one of the best bits of business Manchester United have done in years.

The Portuguese arrived at Old Trafford from Sporting CP in January of 2020, and has since gone on to completely dominate the English top-flight.

Fernandes, of course, played a key role in United securing a Champions League berth last term.

Suggesting that the Red Devils have looked like something of a one-man team over stretches to this point in 2020/21, meanwhile, wouldn’t really be an understatement.

In total, Fernandes has netted 23 and assisted 13 in 41 outings across all competitions this season.

The former Sporting standout has also won a staggering five Man United Player of the Month awards since his arrival, as well as four Premier League POTM prizes:

Fernandes’ contract situation

Such fine form did look set to see Bruno Fernandes handed a fairly hefty pay-rise.

It was claimed on the 4th of March that the Portuguese was in line for a ‘double-your-money’ pay rise at United at the end of the campaign.

However, a fresh report from the Sun has now highlighted what Fernandes wants before he puts pen to paper on a new deal.

And, somewhat surprisingly, it doesn’t appear to be a monetary issue.

Instead, it is claimed that Fernandes has ‘demanded’ assurances about the Red Devils’ transfer plans before he commits to a new long-term deal.

It is added that the 26-year-old wants to know there is a commitment in the boardroom to do what it takes to get the Manchester outfit back to the top domestically and in Europe.
