Hofmann’s Gladbach stint

Hofmann began his senior career with Borussia Dortmund, after spending much of his youth with Hoffenheim.

And the 28-year-old subsequently went on to notch 59 appearances across all competitions for BVB.

Hofmann never really cemented himself as a regular at Signal Iduna Park, though, and was loaned out to Mainz in 2014/15 as a result.

This was followed by a permanent departure from Dortmund in 2016, when Hofmann linked up with Borussia Monchengladbach.

And the two-time capped German international has since gone on to feature 145 times across all competitions for Gladbach, scoring 21 and assisting 31 in the process.

It is the current campaign, though, which has proven Hofmann’s most impressive.

In just 17 Bundesliga outings, he has found the net five times, as well as providing nine assists.

Hofmann on Chelsea links

Such fine form looks to have attracted interest from at least one club.

Thomas Tuchel took the reins at Chelsea recently, and is yet to lose a tie as their manager.

And shortly after taking the Chelsea job, the German was credited with an interest in Hofmann.

Now, in a recent interview, Hofmann has been directly quizzed on his links to Chelsea.

The midfielder gave very little away though, suggesting that one club may have expressed an interest in him, but the ‘absolute focus’ is having a successful season with Gladbach:

“Basically, I feel good at Borussia, I’ve always emphasised that.

“It may be that one or the other club has expressed its interest.

“Nevertheless, for me, the absolute focus is on having a successful season with Borussia and dedicating myself fully to success. I put my personal situation under it.”

Chelsea team news

Elsewhere, Thomas Tuchel has provided a team news update on Chelsea ahead of their meeting with Liverpool:

“Callum has no issue at all, he was training with the team yesterday. Thiago had full training with the team but didn’t finish the last exercise. Not because of pain. He is not 100% so he will not join the squad yet. Tammy has problems on his ankle”
