The latest on Roberto Firmino & Ozan Kabak ahead of Liverpool’s meeting with RB Leipzig

Liverpool vs RB Leipzig

Liverpool are back in European action in 24 hours’ time.

The Merseysiders are set to play out the second of two Champions League Round of 16 ties with RB Leipzig.

Liverpool, of course, head into proceedings with the upper hand, having notched a 2-0 victory in the previous leg last month.

The Reds, though, are currently in the midst of a dismal run of form, which has seen them lose six league games in a row at Anfield for the first time in the club’s storied history.

Firmino & Kabak updates ahead of Liverpool vs RB Leipzig

So, Jurgen Klopp will no doubt be keen to field as strong a side as possible in Budapest, to ensure his side’s passage into the last-eight.

However, it looks as though the Premier League champions will likely have to make do without one of their star front-three against Leipzig.

Roberto Firmino missed Liverpool’s defeat to Fulham over the weekend, and is now said to be a doubt for Wednesday, after missing training today with a knee complaint:

However, Ozan Kabak – who also missed out vs Fulham – did train on Tuesday:

Elsewhere, Jurgen Klopp was drawn on how and where Fabinho may be utilised on Wednesday, though the German gave little away:

“I don’t know with Fab. We have to see. I know, but I don’t say it – maybe that’s better, or that’s the truth. But we will see.

“Yes, it’s an opportunity but having Fab back is in general good. We didn’t play him obviously for the [Fulham] game from the beginning because just after a long time being out and then two games in a row, we thought it makes not too much sense. Or is too dangerous in our situation actually. Now he is ready. But if he will play centre-half or midfield, that decision you will see tomorrow.”
