Matteo Guendouzi ‘not part’ of Arsenal boss Arteta’s plans next season

A recent report from England has cast doubt over Matteo Guendouzi’s Arsenal future

Guendouzi’s Arsenal story

Matteo Guendouzi joined Arsenal in the summer of 2018, following a stint in the second tier of French football.

Despite his age and limited experience at the top level, Guendouzi showcased clear signs of promise early in his Arsenal career.

However, the now 21-year-old’s form proved somewhat erratic, with Guendouzi having even been compared to a headless chicken due to his non-stop style.

Nevertheless, when Mikel Arteta first took the reins at Arsenal, the Frenchman was afforded plenty of game-time.

This was only until he was accused of taunting several Brighton stars over finances during a meeting back in June, however. In turn, Guendouzi was not afforded a single appearance over the remainder of last season.

Guendouzi has of course since been loaned to German outfit Hertha Berlin for the 2020/21 campaign.

The youngster has endured a rather mixed season to date, with Hertha, after a decent start, having been dragged into a relegation battle.

Guendouzi’s time at Arsenal up?

Regarding the possibility of a permanent stay in Germany for Guendouzi, reports in January suggested that such an outcome looks unlikely, with Hertha said to be looking into replacements for the Arsenal man.

However, as mentioned above, a report this week has now also cast doubt on Guendouzi’s future in north London.

According to Football Insider, Guendouzi is not expected to play for Arsenal again, with the club looking to offload him for £25m in the upcoming summer window.

It is added that Mikel Arteta has made it clear that the 21-year-old is not part of his plans for the forthcoming campaign.
