Manchester United provide team news update ahead of AC Milan clash

Man United vs AC Milan

The Europa League returns to our screens later this week.

The Round of 16 is generally when we finally start to see some interesting ties pop up across the competition.

And one of the more high-profile clashes of the upcoming round will pit England and Italy’s 2nd best sides against one another, as Manchester United take on AC Milan.

As well as featuring two top sides battling it out, Thursday’s match was also expected to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic make a return to Old Trafford.

However, the Swede recently suffered an injury, and though AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli is hopeful of a return, the centre-forward being fit by Thursday remains up in the air:

“He is better. Tomorrow he will have another examination to see how his recovery is going, we hope he can recover by Thursday.

Milan are not the only side who could be without a key player or two in two days’ time, though.

Manchester United provided an early team news update via their website on Tuesday afternoon.

And, in the update, it was confirmed that the Red Devils have several fitness doubts ahead of the clash.

United confirmed that Marcus Rashford has picked up an ankle issue, with a more in-depth update on the English international set to be provided by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Wednesday:

Marcus Rashford suffered an ankle injury during the Manchester derby and we await an update from the manager on the extent of the England international’s problem

Elsewhere, all of Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek, Edison Cavani, Juan Mata and Phil Jones were named as potential absentees:
