Liverpool’s Ozan Kabak admits it is hard to adapt to the Premier League

Liverpool are back in European action later this evening

The Merseysiders are set to play out the second of two Champions League Round of 16 ties with RB Leipzig.

Liverpool, of course, head into proceedings with the upper hand, having notched a 2-0 victory in the previous leg last month.

The Reds, though, are currently in the midst of a dismal run of form, which has seen them lose six league games in a row at Anfield for the first time in the club’s storied history.

Jurgen Klopp himself has also urged caution heading into the tie, insisting that nothing is done yet.

Writing in his notes for the official match programme ahead of tonight’s game, the German stated:

“We arrive back this evening knowing we are only at half-time. Nothing is done. The contest is still to be won. No outcome guaranteed.

“As a club and as a team we know better than most that having a lead in the Champions League is only as good as what you do with it. If the scoreline was reversed I know I would still view our chances as very good. It will certainly be the case for our opponent.

“We have a lead – which we have earned – that is all.”

Klopp was also full of praise for his fellow countryman and Leipzig boss, Julian Nagelsmann:

“My opposite number – Julian Nagelsmann – is one of the most exciting, innovative and adventurous coaches in world football. He rightly has many admirers… I am absolutely towards the top of that list. He is a person who I think will relish this situation tonight. He will view it as an opportunity.”

Ozan Kabak on adapting to the Premier League

Elsewhere on the Liverpool front, Ozan Kabak has been discussing life in England.

The 20-year-old would join the Reds on loan during the winter window and has since notched five appearances for the Merseysiders, including playing 90 minutes in the revers fixture vs Leipzig.

However, Kabak has recently admitted that it is hard to adapt to life in the Premier League due to the quality of players and teams:

“In England the level is really, really high.

“The Bundesliga is also a really high level, but I think the Premier League is higher in intensity and physical quality.

“I think it is the highest level of football and I am trying to adapt here. Thiago [Alcantara], Bobby [Firmino] and [Xherdan] Shaqiri played in the Bundesliga before they were here and our manager also managed in Germany, so I take their advice and try to give my best in training and the games.

“I have given everything in the last month, but of course it is hard to adapt here because there are good players and good teams in the Premier League.

“It is always harder to join a team in winter, to be honest, to play with new team-mates and obviously to move to a new country with a new language. It has been a challenge for me, but I have tried to adapt as soon as possible.”
