Who is Florian Neuhaus?
Florian Neuhaus joined Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2017 from fellow German outfit, 1860 Munich.
The 23-year-old made the move to Gladbach on a free transfer, and, following a brief loan stint, has since become a key cog in the club’s midfield, as they continue to fight for Champions League football.
Neuhaus featured 37 times last season, scoring four and assisting two en route to a 4th-placed finish in the Bundesliga.
Monchengladbach’s form has since dipped off slightly, but Neuhaus has nevertheless continued to shine in a slightly more advanced role, which has seen him score six and provide six assists in 30 appearances.
Neuhaus responds to transfer talk
Such fine form, in turn, has since seen the German linked with a number of top European sides.
A recent report from German outlet Kicker credited all of Liverpool, Manchester City, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich with an interest in the midfielder.
The same report also claimed that Neuhaus’ contract contains a €40m release clause, which, in today’s market, could represent a very reasonable fee for a player of his quality.
When drawn on the transfer links surrounding his name during a recent interview, however, the 23-year-old was keen to reiterate his happiness at Borussia-Park:
“I have a contract until 2024 and I have very big goals for this season. That’s what I’m concentrating on now. [Transfer talk] is really not a big issue for me now.
“I play at Borussia, I have a contract, and we as a club are still pursuing very big goals this season. I can’t say what will happen in the summer at the moment.
“I’m also very relaxed about the future. Borussia is a club where I was able to develop excellently and where everything is there. I know what I have with Borussia.”
