Liverpool fans hit out at Firmino after Brazilian attempts cut-back instead of shooting at open goal

Sheffield United vs Liverpool

Sunday’s Premier League action is set to draw to a close at Bramall Lane shortly, with Sheffield United playing host to Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s side headed into the meeting in pretty dire form.

An injury-stricken Liverpool had fallen to defeat in their last four Premier League outings before Sunday.

They had also, on the back of a sensational unbeaten run, lost their last four fixtures at Anfield.

Such dismal form saw the Merseysiders slip down to 6th in the Premier League table.

But, after West Ham and Chelsea, currently sitting directly above the Reds, both dropped points over the weekend, Klopp’s men were aware that they had a great chance to regain some ground in the race for a Champions League spot.

As things stand, though, Liverpool are yet to break the deadlock in Sheffield.

The Reds have dominated the tie, and though Aaron Ramsdale has made some solid saves, the visitors simply haven’t been clinical enough in front of goal.

One player in particular, though, has born the brunt of Liverpool fans’ frustrations following the first 45.

That man is Robert Firmino, who, after finding himself in possession of the ball facing an open goal, bizarrely opted to attempt a cut-back, instead of taking aim himself:
