Liverpool blow: ‘Four to six weeks’ touted as best-case scenario for Jordan Henderson layoff

An update on the potential time Jordan Henderson will be facing on the sidelines has emerged on Wednesday.

Liverpool’s backline decimated

Liverpool have, of course, had an absolute nightmare 2020/21 with injuries.

Liverpool’s main senior central defenders – Vigil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip – are all out with long-term injuries.

Elsewhere, all of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Thiago, James Milner, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ben Davies, Rhys Williams and Alisson have also missed at least one game through either injury or Covid-19 this season.

Such a crisis has led to Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and younger stars having to fill in at centre-back.

Liverpool have also had to dip into the market to bring in two centre-backs to help ease the burden on the squad at the back.

Jordan Henderson injury update

Now, though, the Reds appear to have been dealt yet another huge blow on the injury front.

Jordan Henderson has been filling in at centre-back for much of this campaign, with VVD, Gomez, Matip and Fabinho currently out.

However, the Liverpool skipper suffered an injury of his own over the weekend vs Everton:

And as mentioned above, an update on Henderson’s situation has been provided on Wednesday by The Athletic, and it isn’t looking good.

It is reported that some at Liverpool seem resigned to Henderson facing an extended spell on the sidelines.

And though assessments are still being carried out, and the situation will become clearer in the coming days, it is added that four to six weeks is been regarded as the ‘best-case scenario’ for Henderson’s recovery, with there also fears it will be longer layoff:
