Leicester’s Harvey Barnes facing ‘at least’ six weeks out following injury vs Arsenal

An update on Harvey Barnes’ injury picked up during Leicester’s loss to Arsenal has been provided.

Leicester downed by Arsenal

Sunday’s early Premier League kick-off played out a short time ago.

The first tie of the day saw Arsenal and Leicester City face off.

The Foxes headed into the meeting as clear favourites, particularly after the startling line-ups were revealed, as Mikel Arteta opted to bench a number of key players, including Bukayo Saka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

And, with less than 10 minutes gone, a makeshift Gunners backline conceded a pretty awful goal, allowing Youri Tielemans to essentially walk the ball into the box unchallenged, before firing past Bernd Leno.

From here, though, Arsenal went on to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. Late goals in the first 45 from David Luiz and Alexandre Lacazette handed the visitors the lead just before the break.

Nicolas Pepe then added the north Londoners’ 3rd early in the second-half, rounding out the afternoon’s scoring.

The latest on Barnes & Evans

Their victory on Sunday means that Arsenal have now climbed back into the top half of the table, though Leicester could find themselves closed on by an in-form Chelsea by the end of the day.

To add to Leicester’s woes, meanwhile, both Harvey Barnes and Jonny Evans had to be taken off with injuries vs Arsenal.

And now, following his side’s defeat to Arsenal, Brendan Rodgers has provided an update on Barnes.

The Northern Irishman confirmed that Barnes will need an operation on his knee following his injury on Sunday, with the 23-year-old expected to be out for at least six weeks.

As for Evans, Rodgers confirmed that the stopper is set to have a scan on his calf.
