An update in the reported transfer pursuit of Celtic star Odsonne Edouard has been provided recently.
Premier League sides eyeing Edouard
Edouard made the move to Celtic on a permanent basis in 2018, departing PSG for around £9m.
And the Frenchman has since gone on to enjoy a very solid stint at Parkhead.
All told, in 160 outings across all competitions, Edouard has found the net 81 times, and provided 35 assists.
And though Celtic are not having the greatest season so far, the 23-year-old himself has continued to produce, with 20 goals and four assists in 32 appearances.
Such fine form has, unsurprisingly, seen Edouard garner interest from outside of Scotland.
Teams such as Arsenal and West Ham have previously been credited with an interest in the hitman, whose current Celtic deal only runs until 2022.
It was also claimed more recently that Leicester City could face competition from Arsenal and Aston Villa in the race to sign the Frenchman.
Edouard set for Leicester?
Now, though, a fresh update, which emerged late on Thursday evening, appears to suggest one club have taken the lead in the pursuit of Edouard.
According to the Daily Mail, Leicester believe they have won the race to sign Edouard.
It is added that Edouard is believed to have indicated he wants to link-up with former boss, Brendan Rodgers, at the King Power, with a deal worth around £15m said to be close to being agreed.
Said fee may seem slightly low for someone with Edouard’s goalscoring ability, but it is worth remembering the hitman will have just one year left on his current contract in the summer.
