Frank Lampard’s stance on taking Celtic job revealed following Neil Lennon exit

Neil Lennon steps down

The headline news in the footballing world over the last 24 hours has of course surrounded Neil Lennon’s resignation as Celtic boss.

Rumours began to spread on Tuesday evening that Lennon was set to step down at Celtic boss in the next 24 hours.

And on Wednesday morning, it was confirmed by Celtic that Northern Irishman had indeed stepped down.

After resigning, Lennon had this to say:

“We have experienced a difficult season due to so many factors and, of course, it is very frustrating and disappointing that we have not been able to hit the same heights as we did previously.

“I have worked as hard as ever to try and turn things around, but unfortunately we have not managed to get the kind of run going that we have needed.

“I have always given my best to the Club and have been proud to deliver silverware to the Celtic supporters. The Club will always be part of me. I will always be a Celtic supporter myself and I will always want the best for Celtic.

“I would like to thank so many people at the Club who have given me so much and I would also like to thank my family for their love and support. I wish the Celtic supporters, players, staff and directors nothing but success for the future.”

Frank Lampard to Celtic?

Lennon leaves Celtic with the club a staggering 18 points behind Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.

As a result, whoever takes over on a permanent basis looks to have quite the job on their hands.

One potential name being touted in the media is that of former Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard.

And on Wednesday, Football Insider have provided some insight into Lampard’s stance on taking the job.

It is claimed by FI that Lampard will resist the chance to put his name forward for the Celtic job, but he is open to the position in the summer.
