Speculation stemming from the German media this weekend has pointed towards ex-Arsenal pair Shkodran Mustafi and Sead Kolasinac as leading protagonists in an apparent attempt to have Schalke manager Christian Gross immediately sacked.
Shocking Schalke
Schalke’s demise has proven one of the talking points of the German top-flight campaign to date.
This comes with the heavyweights in the midst of a nightmare season, which has seen them secure just a solitary victory across 23 outings to date.
This, in turn, leaves Die Knappen languishing dead bottom of the table, and looking primed for a devastating demotion to German football’s 2nd-tier.
The Gelsenkirchen-based outfit, to their credit, did attempt to amend their issues last month, in dipping into the market for much-needed reinforcements.
This saw all of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Shkodran Mustafi and Sead Kolasinac (on loan) arrive at the Veltins-Arena.
Evidently, however, such additions have since failed to have the desired effect, with an altogether out of the blue 4-o drubbing of Hoffenheim having proven little more than a flash in the pan.

Former Gunners lead revolt
And, as outlined above, if the latest word doing the rounds in the German media over the last 24 hours is to be believed, then the winter arrivals at Schalke already appear to have had enough.
This comes amid claims that all three of the aforementioned stars are now fronting a ‘revolt’ against their boss.
As per Bild, despite denials from the club, Kolasinac, Mustafi and Huntelaar are moving forward with an initiative to have Christian Gross removed from his post with immediate effect.
The trio, and more, are said to have drawn issue with Gross’ tactics, training methods and communication:
To update, BILD reporting the 3 “rebel” players at the forefront were: Sead Kolasinac, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Shkodran Mustafi. Schalke have denied reports that there was any kind of “revolt” or “revolution” among the players and that anyone asked for Gross to be sacked. https://t.co/HYiJCb3hcD
