Digne signs
Everton and France international left back Lucas Digne has signed up to a new long-term contract which will expire in the summer of 2025. Since arriving on Merseyside from Barcelona, the 27-year-old has been a big hit at the club and a mainstay in their left-sided full-back position.

Digne spoke of the project being built at Everton as a key factor in his decision to sign.
âThe fans made me feel at home from the beginning, they showed me big love and created a song for me,â Digne said. âIt is something I really appreciate and it is very important for me to keep the stability.
âWe have a big project with the club and can reach something very good at the end of this season and for the next few years. I want to play in Europe and Everton is the best place to do that.
âI have seen the progress every year since joining the Club, we are building a strong team. When you sign for Everton, it is like an amazing wedding.
âYou just have to do your best every day to show Evertonians the love you have for them. That is what I do.
âI want to show them what they give me and it is just amazing. It was clear in my mind that I want to continue with Everton.â
Digne praises Ancelotti
Everton find themselves in the Race for a Champions League qualification spot and much has been credited to their coach Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian who has a wealth of experience managing some of the biggest clubs around Europe moved to Everton at the end of 2019 and has since progressed the side with a some key signings.
The win over Liverpool at Anfield was an impressive victory which could have gone some way to convincing the Frenchman to sign on to a new long-term deal. Digne did accredited Ancelotti with being a key factor in his decision.
âAll the team improved this season because we are stronger than last year,â said Digne. âOffensively and defensively, I worked a lot tactically with the manager.â

âI played in different positions â I can adapt and I think I improved a lot this season.
âHe won three Champions Leagues, he has this winning mentality,â he said referencing Carlo Ancelotti. âHe has the experience. He knows when he can relax the group, when he can push us. He is the perfect coach for us.â
