Stanley Eguma, the technical adviser of Nigeria’s representative in the CAF Confederation Cup Rivers United has revealed the reason for their defeat against ASEC Mimosa.
The Ivorian side on Sunday defeated the Nigerian champions by a lone goal scored in the second minute of the game.
Eguma said conceding early in the game affected the team because it placed them under pressure and they were unable to play their normal game.
” We played below par but it wasn’t a bad outing.
We lost the game due to the blunder we made very early and it weakened the team, that was the reason we lost this game.
Our greatest undoing was losing a lot of scoring chances, if we have converted those chances it would have been a different ball game.
We were under pressure after conceding very early and were more defensive in the game.
We failed to raise our game today”, he said.
