An update on the wellbeing of Man United star Marcus Rashford has come to the fore online this evening, after the English international was forced off during yesterday’s Manchester derby.
Fernandes & Shaw on target
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men of course made the trip to the Etihad 24 hours ago, for a Premier League showdown.
Hosts Man City headed into proceedings as overwhelming favourites to emerge from the derby with all 3 points, amid a historic run of 21 successive victories across all competitions.
United, on the other hand, were winless in their prior three, all of which ended in goalless stalemates.
The form book, however, so often goes firmly out the window in derby matchups, and Sunday’s clash proved no different.
A stellar showing on the part of the Red Devils saw Solskajer and co. keep their heavily favoured hosts at bay, en route to a richly deserved 2-0 victory.
Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring from the penalty spot inside two minutes, before Luke Shaw went on to make sure of all 3 points with a pinpoint effort early in the 2nd-half:

Rashford latest
As outlined above, however, an otherwise stellar evening for all associated with United on Sunday was soured somewhat by a concerning blow on the personnel front.
20 minutes from time, Marcus Rashford went to ground with an ankle issue, before swiftly being replaced by Mason Greenwood.
As the former made his way off the pitch, he could be seen to be in some degree of pain, wincing every time his left foot made contact with the Etihad turf.
In turn, concern quickly spread amongst the Reds fanbase regarding a potentially serious issue.

Such fears, however, have this evening been eased.
This comes on the back of confirmation arriving online – courtesy of the reliable James Ducker – that Rashford has avoided ligament damage.
The 23-year-old underwent a series of scans on Monday, which ruled out a serious injury.
Nevertheless, though, Rashford is said to remain in discomfort, with his ankle having swollen badly overnight. As such, ice will continue to be applied to the affected area over the days ahead.
His potential participation in United’s Europa League meeting with AC Milan on Thursday night therefore remains up in the air as things stand.
