Midlands Derby
Dean Smith’s team are set to host local rivals Wolves tomorrow evening and will be looking to get their season back on track after a disappointing defeat to 10-man Sheffield United on Wednesday.
After beating Leeds 1-0 at Elland Road last weekend, Villa had a real chance of closing the gap to the European places but were unable to capitalise on that victory. They will look to home comforts when they welcome Wolves who sit in 12th place and 5 points behind them.
Speaking in his press conference this morning Smith spoke of consistency being key.

Dean Smith also provided an update on Jack Grealish.

He said that whilst he has yet to speak with his medical staff, he expects the England International to miss the game.
Smith on Jack Grealish: “He’s doing better, he’s unlikely to play.
“He looks pain-free so once I sit down with the medical staff, we’ll decide what he’s doing today.”
He adds: “Matty Cash is still recovering; it shouldn’t be too long before he’s back training with us.”#AVLWOL pic.twitter.com/1md2VCebb2

He also updated that striker Wesley is back training and likely to play in some under 23 games and that Kortney Hause is close to returning.
Taggert on England radar
The Mirror are reporting that Villa’s left-back Matt Targett could be called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad later this month. He has previously represented England at Under 19,20 and 21 level.
Targett has been very consistent this season playing 25 times for the Villans and helping them to 13 clean sheets. He also has established a great rapport with Jack Grealish down the left-hand side.
Whilst competition will be tough with the likes of Ben Chilwell and Bukayo Saka also in the mix, Taggert may have a chance of earning a place in the Euro 2020 squad should his form continue.
