A 34-year-old man is set to appear in court on Monday, 9 January after he allegedly attempted to kill his ex-girlfriend, 30, and her younger sister, 28, in Tshakhuma village in Limpopo, South Africa.
This comes after he was sentenced for violation of a protection order that was obtained against him by the same woman.
His first court appearance in Levubu Magistrate’s Court was on 9 November 2022.
He was then remanded in custody until 21 November 2022 to allow for additional police investigation.
Mahlaule appeared in court before the remand date and was sentenced to four years in prison or a R10 000 fine.
He paid the fine and was released on 28 November 2022.
After being released, he allegedly went to his ex-house girlfriend’s in Tshakhuma village and hacked both sisters with an axe.
A case of two counts of attempted murder was then opened, and police began a search for the suspect,.
He was eventually apprehended on Friday, 6 January 2023, at around 15:30 after handing himself over to the police.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Vuwani Magistrate’s Court facing two counts of attempted murder.
