Nigerian singer, Augustine Miles Kelechi, who many know as Tekno, has disclosed why he relocated to the United States.

Tekno announced this via his Instagram stories yesterday, linking the move to calls for change of Nigeria’s name to the United Africans Republic (UAR).

He said he would only return to the Nigeria when the dust surrounding the proposed name change is looked into and addressed.

He said:

“We are just out here excited, y’all already know I moved out of Nigeria since they call it UAR. Ain’t UAR sh*t, I’m a full Nigerian. When it’s back to Nigeria, imma pull back up but right now I live in the States,”

Recall that some weeks back Adeleye Jokotoye, a tax consultant, had plea the House of Representatives to rename Nigeria to the UAR.

In his proposal during a public hearing on constitutional review, Jokotoye had said that the name “Nigeria” was given to the country by Flora Shaw, a foreigner.

He claims that for the country to be one, its name needs to be changed, adding that such will foster peace among citizens.

The proposal has however generated a lot reactions and has turned to comic relief for many.
